Wheel Clamps

The red cover plate on my Titan Wheel Clamp will not lock in place when fitted to the wheel.
Check that the 3 arms are in the correct position inside the cover plate. Check that the arms are stacked together in the correct order i.e. left hand bottom arm then right hand bottom arm then top arm on top of the stack. Also ensure that the spring washer is the correct way up, (domed side up). These points are shown in detail on our instructions and can be viewed on our instruction page of this web site. If the lock will still not lock after checking all the above remove the plastic cap in the centre of the cover plate, remove the lock and take out the metal shim behind the lock bar head. Re-assemble lock into cover plate and try again.

My lock spins around on my Titan Wheel Clamp. How can I stop it spinning?
Push the red plastic cover firmly onto the lock boss. Apply pressure to the red plastic cap to prevent lock turning.

keys/unlocking

I cannot unlock my security device. What can be wrong?
Check that you are definitely using the correct key. Many security products use similar keys and it is easy to get these mixed up. If you are sure you have the correct key try the spare supplied as you may have damaged the key.

How can I get a spare key for my Bulldog product?
As long as you have your key number (found on key only) you can order spare keys. Please allow 10 - 14 days delivery, as we have to get them cut from the lock manufacturer. N.B We do not have a master key.

Stabilisers

I have a torque wrench and want to know the torque setting on the adjusting bolt?
You cannot accurately set a stabiliser with a torque wrench as the torque is very low. You must check the resultant load at the end of the spring arm with either bathroom scales or a spring balance.

There is a noise from my Bulldog Stabiliser when towing.
Noise can be generated between the friction pads and the moving friction plate surfaces when driving. This is quite normal and this has no detrimental effect on the function of the stabiliser. If the noise is excessive check the tension on the end of the spring arm which should be 60lbs with a set of bathroom scales at the end of the spring arm (see our page on stabiliser service for further details if tension is wrong). If there is excessive dust around the friction discs the stabiliser will need to be stripped down cleaned and re-assembled. Whilst apart check the pivot plate is flat by placing a straight edge along its faces. Replace if it is distorted. The stabiliser friction pads should be dry in operation. If they have been inadvertently oiled or contaminated with oil they will need to be discarded and all metal surfaces thoroughly degreased then the stabiliser re-assembled with new friction discs. When carrying out any adjustments to the spring tension refer to the stabiliser service section of this web site to get the correct settings.

My new towcar does not have a standard bolt on towball but a swan neck type instead. Can I still use my Bulldog Stabiliser?
The Bulldog LC8 clamp on bracket can be used providing there is a minimum parallel section 35mm long i.e. not tapered. The LC8 fits towbars up to 43mm diameter.

minilock/Hitchlock

Can I use my Bulldog Minilock/Hitchlock while travelling?
The police advice against towing with security locks in position because in the event of an accident it would be difficult to separate the two vehicles.
